<image:caption>Therapy can be a powerful, vulnerable experience with a lot of unknowns and uncharted territory. It takes courage to step into this process not knowing if it will be worth it. With willingness, commitment, and openness, it will be. I am a radical, relational therapist who brings my genuine presence, empathy, practicality, knowledge, and humor to this work. I offer my careful attention and non-judgmental understanding, as well as a social justice lens and a passion for the complexity of the human condition. I am curious, caring, honest, and direct. I work hard to know my privilege and to stay educated and humble in my work and personal life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Therapy has (thankfully!) come a long way since its origins. Yet many people still think therapists are “experts” who tell you what’s wrong with you and how they’re going to fix it. If you choose to work with me, I promise to treat you as wise and capable, not sick or broken. We’ll be collaborators, but you will always be in charge. Learn more about my approach and philosophy here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>60-minute individual therapy session: $205 90–minute individual therapy session: $290 Why 90-minute sessions? I set my fee based on business and living expenses; my level of training and experience; and a desire to offer discounted or pro-bono services to those who need it. When you pay my full rate, you are not only supporting my livelihood and work; you’re also helping someone else receive services who otherwise would not be able to access this kind of support. I offer a limited number of discounted sessions to clients who are experiencing financial difficulty, and are dedicated to the counseling process and interested in ongoing work together. *Please note that I currently have a waiting list for discounted and pro-bono appointments. .</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Philosophy - My therapeutic philosophy</image:title>
<image:caption>The field of mental health was created decades ago by old white men with only white, cishetero clients in mind. There’s a lot to learn from the original theories. But I think modern therapists have a responsibility to question concepts from conventional therapy, and to bring our humanity to the work we do.</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Philosophy - 01 — our earliest relationships are a key to understanding ourselves</image:title>
<image:caption>My work has a strong focus on attachment: the understanding that our earliest significant relationships have a deep impact on how we see ourselves and relate to others as we get older. Revisiting these childhood and adolescent relationships and experiences can be illuminating and transformative. This is not about “dwelling on the past.” Rather, it’s about taking a brave and honest look at the way the past is still impacting us right now. This insight can help us access self compassion. It can also help us begin to loosen the grip the past has on our present and free us to create something new.</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Philosophy - 02 — emotions are wise messengers</image:title>
<image:caption>I believe our emotions carry a tremendous amount of wisdom. I will often challenge you to tune into your feelings and listen closely. This can sometimes feel awkward, uncomfortable, or difficult. We can’t eliminate painful emotions from our lives, but we can change the way we relate to them. When we stop fighting our feelings and instead see them as wise messengers with valuable information, we can relieve some unnecessary suffering and learn important truths about what matters most to us.</image:caption>

<image:title>My Philosophy - 03 — we are made of many selves and stories</image:title>
<image:caption>I draw from parts work and narrative therapy. We all have internalized messages, narratives, and beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world. These develop over time as a way to make sense of our lives and experiences. We will spend time learning about what they are, where they come from, and how they’ve served you in the past. We will explore the different parts of yourself that hold stories that have helped you survive in the past, and challenge the ones that no longer serve you. This will help you to make conscious decisions as you heal. Free from judgment, we will be genuinely curious about all the parts of you that make up who you are, and work towards a greater sense of wholeness.</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Philosophy - 04 — we are individuals existing within systems</image:title>
<image:caption>I will view your experience through a feminist therapy lens. It’s impossible to understand a human’s experience without examining the systemic context that has shaped them. We will look at the way our society’s structures and systems have impacted you and the ways that your self-understanding connects to the categories and roles that were assigned to you.</image:caption>

      <image:title>My Philosophy - 05 — relationships shape our brains and bodies</image:title>
<image:caption>My work is heavily influenced by interpersonal neurobiology and polyvagal theory. These theories offer a perspective on how our relationships and interactions with other people shape and impact our brains and bodies. We will look at the ways your significant relationships impacted your nervous system from birth. It can be useful to understand what’s happening in our body/mind when we’re distressed and what we can do to cope during those times of activation.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Me - Hello!</image:title>
<image:caption>For a long time therapists were taught to not share anything about themselves. But many modern therapists think this isn’t always in their clients’ best interests. This does not mean I use your sessions to talk about myself! Boundaries are important to me and your sessions will always be focused on you. But I’ve discovered that healing is more possible when therapy is a genuine relationship between two real people. Also, knowing your therapist shares some of the same values or life experiences can give you more confidence that you will be understood and not judged.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who I Work With - Common Reasons People Seek Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Much of my work focuses on anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss. Because most humans experience some or all of these throughout their lifetime. Beyond these core challenges, everyone has their own personal story and struggles. Your experience in therapy will be unique to you and we’ll figure out what that looks like together. If you feel like you need or want therapy, that alone is a good enough reason to give it a try.</image:caption>
